Our client wanted their wedding cake to have sugar handmade ivory and light pink roses, eucalyptus, hyacinth and grape hyacinth along with a sugar silver Royal Engineers badge. Ruffled Wedding Cakes are very popular as not only do they look stunning but they can be colour themed to your special day. The base tier or this cake comprised four lemon sponge cake layers, filled with lemon buttercream and lemon curd. The middle tier was Red Velvet Cake with Salted Caramel Buttercream and the top tier was Coffee Sponge willed with dark chocolate ganache and caramel buttercream. Each cake was coated in white chocolate ganache before being covered with sugarpaste. We were delighted to design and make this beautiful semi naked cake. Each tier was a different flavour so that the colours of the sponge showed through. The base tier was our delicious zesty lemon sponge, the middle tier was the soft red velvet cake with salted caramel buttercream and the top tier was decadent chocolate sponge cake with chocolate buttercream. Our bride had designed her own wedding cake and wanted us to make a sugar ivy heart with garlands of sugar ivy around the tops of the tiers. When designing a wedding cake we always want to satisfy both parties with their cake design and this cake was slightly different to the norm. Beautiful fresh flowers in-keeping with the bridal flowers adorned one side of the cake whilst the other side had a superhero bursting out of it.
